September 20 – New Hampshire State Representative, Hillsborough District 3

The last of three special elections this fall in New Hampshire falls in the Hillsborough district after Republican incumbent Robert Huxley resigned. The reason seems pretty straight-forward, since election, he had never cast a vote in the legislature.

There is no primary in this race as each party has just one candidate running. Hoping to keep the seat in the hands of his party is Republican David L. Simpson Jr. (not to be confused with the Texas rep. of the same name who has become famous for his uphill fight against TSA screenings).

Democrats are looking to Peter Leishman, who is hoping to return to the House after being defeated in 2010. He had served on and off since 1996 and is the owner of the Milford-Bennington Railroad.

The district covers Peterborough, New Ipswich, Sharon and Greenville.
