November 24 – Results in Iowa’s 33rd District

Democrat Holds Seat in Cedar Rapids Special Election

Though it was incredibly hard to find, results have finally come in for the Special Election in the 33rd House district in Iowa.

Democrat Kirsten Running-Marquardt – 1508 (78%)
Republican Joshua Thurston – 420 (22%)

Turnout was a terrible 9.5%. Republicans actually thought this race would be much closer, but the turnout contributed to the easy victory for the Democrats.

This means that the Democratic Party controls the Iowa State House 56-44.
