Election Day – Iowa 33rd District (Cedar Rapids)

Nov. 24 – Election Day for the 33rd Iowa House of Representatives District

It’s election day in the 33rd Iowa House district in Cedar Rapids.

Click here to read the original post about the race. Two young candidates are battling in the race, Kirsten Running-Marquardt, the Democrat and Josh Thurston, the Republican. This was originally a Democratic-held seat.

Right now, with the vacancy in the 33rd district, the Iowa House stands at 55 Democrats and 44 Republicans. After the heavy flooding in Cedar Rapids a few years ago, whomever is elected will be faced with the large task of continuing the rebuilding of the city.

Check back here tonight for results. And if you live in the district, GO VOTE!
