Election 2010 – So it begins…

“Bad officials are elected by good citizens who do not vote” -George Jean Nathan

Today marks the beginning of a series of articles about the major races for the general election in 2010. Most of these will be upper-echelon races, for top federal posts and state positions, but I hope that there will be forthcoming recommendations of other races to cover.

I will also always do a post about the legislative picture for each state. These races may not be on the national radar, but are quite important.

I will write mostly in the order of primaries, starting with Illinois, which holds its primary on February 2 and working my way to Hawaii, which finishes the primary season on September 18. I will also do pieces about election rules in each state, particularly the places that make it hard to vote.

Be sure to check into voting for college students, ex-pats and military members on the Basics page and For College Students.

I hope this is helpful – the goal of this blog is to make information more accessible and to illuminate local races.
