Dec. 12 – Houston Mayoral Runoff
**UPDATE – November 11** The candidate who finished third in the initial election, Peter Brown, a Houston City Councilman who received over 30,000 votes, has endorsed Annise Parker. Read the story here.

After a hard-fought election and after seeing the field narrowed to two with an initial vote on November 3, Houston voters go back to the polls to pick their new mayor on December 12. This election is non-partisan.

The top vote-getter in the initial election is Annise Parker, currently Houston’s City Controller. If elected, Parker would be the first openly gay leader of the city. To learn more about her, visit her website.
